Wolf of Wall Street-inspired Memecoin Plummets 99% - Another Crypto Scheme Exposed?

Hayden Davies, already known for creating the controversial Libra (LIBRA) and Official Melania Meme (MELANIA) tokens, has launched yet another memecoin that crashed spectacularly. The Wolf (WOLF) token, which capitalized on Jordan Belfort's "Wolf of Wall Street" fame, saw its value plummet by 99% just days after launch.

Red Flags Were Everywhere

Blockchain analytics platform Bubblemaps exposed concerning patterns that mirror Davies' previous projects:

  • 82% of WOLF token supply controlled by a single entity
  • Complex network of 17 different addresses traced back to Davies
  • Funding for these wallets established months before launch

The memecoin briefly reached a $42 million market cap before collapsing to just $570,000, wiping out nearly all investor value in less than 48 hours.

Part of a Larger Pattern

This collapse follows Davies' Libra token disaster, where insider wallets cashed out $107 million, causing a staggering $4 billion market cap wipeout. The Libra situation even created political fallout, with Argentine President Javier Milei facing potential impeachment after endorsing the token.

Davies now faces potential legal consequences, with Argentine lawyer Gregorio Dalbon requesting an Interpol Red Notice, citing flight risk given Davies' likely access to substantial funds.

Are Memecoins Becoming Predatory?

Industry experts warn that memecoins are increasingly being weaponized against retail investors. Anastasija Plotnikova, CEO of blockchain regulatory firm Fideum, notes that memecoins have "evolved from community-driven social experiments into a chaotic landscape dominated by value extraction from retail investors."

What began as fun collectibles inspired by internet culture has morphed into vehicles for pump-and-dump schemes and concentrated insider profits.
